What this tool does
This tool takes a CSV that an import keeps rejecting and repairs what can be repaired safely. It works out the separator from the header — comma, semicolon, tab or pipe — and re-splits rows that were written with a different one; it removes a byte-order mark and blank lines, quotes a field that has a stray quote in it, and pads a row that is short of fields. A row with too many fields is reported and left alone, because which cell is extra is not a guess to make for you. Each repair is listed with its line. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste leaves this page.
What happens to your file
Your file never leaves your device. This page opens it, changes it and saves the result in your browser; nothing is uploaded, so there is no copy on our servers to delete.
No AI provider sees it either. The page sends us one count that a run happened — no file, no name, no size. Details on the privacy page.
Questions
What does it fix, and what does it leave alone?
It fixes a byte-order mark, mixed line endings, blank lines, smart quotes used as field quotes, a stray quote inside a field, rows written with another separator, and rows short of fields. A row with too many fields is reported and not changed, because deciding which value is the extra one would be a guess.
Does it change my data?
Only its punctuation. Values are kept exactly as written — numbers are not reformatted and dates are not converted — and every change it did make is listed with its line.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The CSV is read and repaired by code on this page, in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers, so it is safe to paste a customer list.
How big a file can it take?
As much as your browser can comfortably hold in a text box — tens of thousands of rows is usually fine. For a very large file, a desktop tool or the sister site's CSV tools will be faster.
Is it free?
Yes, with no account and no daily limit. It runs on your own device, so it costs us nothing to offer.
