What this tool does
This tool reads the tables out of an HTML page and writes them as comma-separated files. The structure comes from the markup rather than from the way the page looks, so rows and columns are exactly the ones the page declared, and header rows are recognised as headers instead of becoming an ordinary first line of data. Any cell text containing a comma or a quotation mark is escaped the way the CSV format requires, which is the part that hand-rolled scraping usually gets wrong. Scripts, styling and everything outside the table are ignored, and whitespace inside a cell is collapsed the way a browser would display it, so a value broken over two lines in the source comes out as one value rather than two. Nothing is fetched from the internet: the tool reads the file you upload.
The values in this file were read from your document by AI, and they can be wrong — check them against the original before you rely on them. Your document itself is not altered.
What happens to your file
Deleted from our servers after 2 hours. We do not train AI on your files, and the terms of our AI providers do not allow them to; they may keep request logs for up to 55 days, longer for a request they flag for abuse.
Uploads and outputs are deleted after 2 hours, whether or not you download them. Provider request logs are kept for at most 55 days. Details on the privacy page.
Questions
What happens to the file I upload?
It is deleted from our servers after two hours, whether or not you download the result, and it is not used to train anything. An HTML table is read from the markup on our own machines, so in the ordinary case nothing about it goes to an AI provider at all.
Why not just copy and paste the table into a spreadsheet?
Often you should — for a small, plain table that works fine. This is for the ones where it does not: a cell with a comma in it, a header that spans two columns, a table long enough that the paste brings the page's styling with it, or a file you need to do the same thing to every week.
Can I give it a URL?
Not from this page. Pointing a server at an address someone typed is a security problem before it is a feature. Save the page in your browser and upload the file.
How accurate is it?
We have not published a number yet, and we are not going to quote one we have not measured. What is fair to say is that HTML already states its own structure, so the usual failure in these tools — a column boundary inferred in the wrong place — does not arise here.
What happens to a cell that spans two columns?
CSV has no way to express a merged cell, so the value is written once and the positions it covered are left empty rather than having the value repeated across them. If you need the merges kept, use the Excel version of this tool instead.
