Before and after

The comma in "Ball catch, brass, 40mm" is why a hand-made CSV of a price list usually breaks.

The PDF
A one-page trade price list: item codes, descriptions, pack sizes, MRP and trade prices in a ruled table.(opens the sample PDF in a new tab)

Copied out: “SH-4010 Ball catch, brass, 40mm 50 nos 96.00 71.50” — the commas in the names are what break a hand-made CSV.

CSV

What this tool does

This tool reads a price list or rate card out of a PDF and writes it as a CSV file, which is the format most shop platforms and inventory systems want when you import a catalogue. The column boundaries come from the text positions already inside the document, and each product becomes one line. Descriptions containing a comma are quoted so the row does not split into the wrong number of columns and push every price one field across — the single most common way a catalogue import goes wrong. Prices are written exactly as printed, with their separators intact, and nothing is rounded or converted. A catalogue spread over many pages is joined into one table first, so the CSV carries one header line rather than a header every time the page turned.

The values in this file were read from your document by AI, and they can be wrong — check them against the original before you rely on them. Your document itself is not altered.

What happens to your file

Deleted from our servers after 2 hours. We do not train AI on your files, and the terms of our AI providers do not allow them to; they may keep request logs for up to 55 days, longer for a request they flag for abuse.

Uploads and outputs are deleted after 2 hours, whether or not you download them. Provider request logs are kept for at most 55 days. Details on the privacy page.

Questions

What happens to the file I upload?

It is deleted from our servers after two hours, whether or not you download the result, and it is not used to train anything. While a job runs, parts of the file may be sent to the AI providers we use; they do not train on it and keep request logs for at most 55 days, longer only for a request they flag for abuse.

What happens to a description with a comma in it?

It is quoted, so it stays in one field. This is the failure that ruins catalogue imports: one unquoted comma shifts every price in that row one column to the right, and the import succeeds with the wrong numbers rather than failing loudly.

Can I import this straight into my shop?

You will still have to map the columns, because your platform's field names are not the supplier's column headings. What you get here is the supplier's table as it was printed, accurately; renaming "Trade" to whatever your system calls cost price is a decision only you can make.

How accurate is it?

We have not published a number yet, and we are not going to quote one we have not measured. The tool marks the cells it is unsure about.

My price list separates columns with spaces, not lines. Is that a problem?

It is the harder case. A column boundary that exists only as a gap can be read in the wrong place, which puts a whole column of prices out by one. Those pages get more scrutiny and the doubtful cells are marked, but check the first few rows before importing the lot.
