Before and after
Copying a web table into a spreadsheet usually brings the page's styling with it, or collapses the whole thing into one column.
<tr><th>Count</th><th>Blend</th><th>Rate/kg</th></tr> <tr><td>20s</td><td>100% cotton</td><td>268.00</td></tr> <tr><td>30s</td><td>PC 65/35</td><td>247.00</td></tr>
| Count | Blend | Rate/kg |
|---|---|---|
| 20s | 100% cotton | 268.00 |
| 30s | PC 65/35 | 247.00 |
What this tool does
This tool takes an HTML page — one you saved from your browser, or one you exported from a system that only offers "print to web" — and writes the tables in it into a spreadsheet. Because HTML already says which cells are cells, nothing has to be guessed from the layout: the table structure is read straight from the markup, including rows marked as headers and cells that span several columns or rows, which are recreated as real merged cells in the spreadsheet rather than flattened into repeated values. Styling, images, scripts and the rest of the page are ignored. The text in each cell is taken as it appears, so a price written 402.50 stays 402.50. Nothing is fetched from the internet on your behalf: the tool reads the file you give it.
The values in this file were read from your document by AI, and they can be wrong — check them against the original before you rely on them. Your document itself is not altered.
What happens to your file
Deleted from our servers after 2 hours. We do not train AI on your files, and the terms of our AI providers do not allow them to; they may keep request logs for up to 55 days, longer for a request they flag for abuse.
Uploads and outputs are deleted after 2 hours, whether or not you download them. Provider request logs are kept for at most 55 days. Details on the privacy page.
Questions
What happens to the file I upload?
It is deleted from our servers after two hours, whether or not you download the result, and it is not used to train anything. An HTML table is read from the markup on our own machines, so in the ordinary case nothing about it goes to an AI provider at all.
Can I give it a URL instead of a file?
Not from this page. Fetching a page on your behalf means deciding what we are allowed to fetch, and pointing a server at an arbitrary address is a security problem before it is a product. Save the page in your browser and upload the file.
What happens to cells that span several columns?
They stay merged. HTML says outright that a cell spans two columns, so there is nothing to infer, and the spreadsheet gets a real merged cell rather than the same value repeated twice or an empty gap next to it.
How accurate is it?
We have not published a number yet, and we are not going to quote one we have not measured. What is fair to say is that this is the easiest of these jobs: HTML already states the structure, so the usual failure — a column boundary in the wrong place — cannot happen here.
My page has several tables. Which one do I get?
All of them, one sheet per table, in the order they appear on the page. The preview shows the first; the downloaded workbook has the rest.
