What Sejda does better
Sejda's online editor edits the existing text of an ordinary PDF: click any text and type. It also edits links and form fields, adds form fields, whiteouts, annotates and signs, all on one page, and its site lists over 40 tools, from Bates numbering to splitting by bookmarks. filedone has fewer PDF tools.
Sejda Desktop runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, and Sejda says that with it files are processed on your computer, not uploaded. It is plain about its own limits, too: its whiteout page warns that whiteout hides but does not remove what is underneath and is not suitable for redaction.
Its pricing suits occasional use: a one-time pass for 7 days that does not renew.

Editing text in a scanned PDF
Sejda's editor says it plainly: editing scanned documents is not supported, and changing existing text within a scanned document is not supported. You can still add new text, images and annotations on top. Its OCR tool makes a scan searchable and its text extractable, by laying invisible text over the page; it does not make the scan's words editable, and Sejda says OCR is a best-effort approach.
filedone's scanned PDF editor is built for that case: it reads the page with OCR, paints out only the words you name and draws the new ones in a matching font, leaving the rest of the scan untouched. It costs 8 credits a job, covering up to 10 pages, and refuses some documents at any price, as the rules page lists. Prices
On sejda.com/pricing on 4 October 2026: a Web Week Pass at $5 for 7 days, a one-time payment that does not renew; Web Monthly at $7.50 a month; and Desktop+Web Annual at $63 a year, which includes Sejda Desktop. Paid plans lift the hourly limits and take files up to 500 MB, and OCR up to 100 pages.
filedone has no pass or subscription you need: the browser tools are free, and the AI tools are paid in credits per job. Credit packs are $9 for 100 credits, $19 for 250 credits or $49 for 750 credits (in India ₹449 for 100 credits, ₹999 for 250 credits or ₹2,499 for 750 credits), bought credits do not expire, and monthly plans start at $12 a month for 200 credits. Your files and privacy
Sejda says its web tools process files on its servers and delete them automatically after 2 hours, that documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, and that with Sejda Desktop files are processed on your computer, not uploaded.
filedone's free browser tools never upload the file: it is opened and changed in your browser tab, so there is no server copy at all. For the AI tools, which do upload: Deleted from our servers after 2 hours. We do not train AI on your files, and the terms of our AI providers do not allow them to; they may keep request logs for up to 55 days, longer for a request they flag for abuse.
