What this tool does
Choose one JPG or PNG, or up to ten. Each is drawn onto a canvas at its own size and saved as a WebP at quality 92, or the quality you set under More options — lower it for a smaller file. A PNG's see-through areas stay see-through, because WebP can hold them too. The size of each file is shown under the result before you download. With several pictures the first is shown, and "Download all" gives you every WebP in one zip. A browser without its own WebP encoder (Safari may lack one) cannot make WebP; the page says so, and JPG or PNG still work there. Nothing is uploaded and no watermark is added.
What happens to your file
Your file never leaves your device. This page opens it, changes it and saves the result in your browser; nothing is uploaded, so there is no copy on our servers to delete.
No AI provider sees it either. The page sends us one count that a run happened — no file, no name, no size. Details on the privacy page.
Questions
Does my picture get uploaded?
No. The page opens the picture, converts it and saves the WebP inside your browser tab; nothing is uploaded and there is no copy on our servers. The only thing the page sends us is a count that a conversion happened — no picture, no file name, no size.
How much smaller will the WebP be?
It depends on the picture and the quality. A photo saved as WebP at the same visible quality is often a quarter to a third smaller than its JPG; at quality 80, as in the sample, about half. The page shows the exact size of each file before you download it.
Will WebP work everywhere?
Every current browser shows WebP, so it is a good choice for a website. Some upload forms, older apps and print shops still want JPG or PNG — keep those for them. The same page can make either: "Convert to" at the top.
Why does it say my browser cannot make WebP files?
Making WebP needs the browser's own encoder, and not every browser has one — Safari may not. Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox, or choose JPG or PNG, which every browser can make.
Does it add a watermark or change anything else?
No visible mark or watermark is added, and the picture keeps its size in pixels. The picture's hidden details (camera, location, date) are not copied. The file does carry a small metadata record (XMP) saying it was made with filedone.ai with human edits and no AI, with a provenance id.
