Before and after
An invented form, and the invoice it made.
Sharma Tiles to Mr R. Verma: 40 boxes of tiles at ₹899, delivery ₹1,200, GST 18%, due in 14 days, logo and signature.
INV-0001, one A4 page, Plain look. Total ₹43,848.80, and in words. Every word is real text in the PDF.
What this tool does
Fill in a short form and this page writes your invoice as a PDF. The form has your business and your customer, the invoice number (INV-0001 to begin with, counted up in this browser each time you make one), the date and a due date 14 days on, and a line for each thing you sold with its quantity and price. Add tax lines you name, such as GST 18%, or CGST 9% and SGST 9%, a discount, an amount already paid, notes, how to be paid, terms, your logo and a signature you draw, type or upload. The totals and the amount in words are worked out as you type, in any of eleven currencies or one you type, rupees in lakh and crore. Pick one of three looks — Plain, Ruled or Bold header — and A4 or US Letter. The page beside the form updates as you type. Make the PDF writes it in your browser and opens it in the editor, where you can download it, add to it or go back and change the details; every word is real text. The layout is a generic one, not any brand's or government's, and nothing of ours is on the page. A tax line is a label and a percentage: the page does the sums, not the tax rules. Nothing is uploaded. Describe it, the optional AI step that fills the form from a sentence, costs 1 credit and needs a free account; it never writes a tax ID, bank or UPI details, terms or small print.
What to put on an invoice
An invoice says who is billing whom, gives the bill a number and a date, lists what was sold with quantities and prices, and adds the tax and the total. The form has a place for each, and leaves the rarer ones under More options so the first screen stays short.
- From and Bill to: names, addresses, a phone or email, and a tax ID such as a GSTIN or VAT number if you have one.
- Invoice number, date and due date; an order number under More options.
- Items: a description, the quantity and the price of one; each line's amount is worked out for you.
- Totals: a discount, tax lines you name, an amount already paid and the balance due, and the total in words.
- Notes, how to pay, terms, your signature and a line of small print at the foot.
- The title reads Invoice; change it under More options to Tax invoice, Proforma invoice or Bill.
GST invoice format — what this page does and does not do
You can make a GST invoice here: put your GSTIN and your customer's in the From and Bill to boxes, and add tax lines such as CGST 9% and SGST 9%, or IGST 18%. Each tax line is worked out on the total after any discount, rounded to the paisa.
The page does the sums, not the tax rules. It does not choose a rate, check a GSTIN, add HSN or SAC codes of its own (type them into an item's description), make an e-invoice with an IRN, or file anything with the GST portal. The layout is generic, not any government's.
Describe it, and AI fills in the form
If you would rather write one sentence than fill in boxes, Describe it takes words such as "Invoice from Sharma Tiles to Mr Verma for 40 boxes of terracotta tiles at 899 rupees each with 18% GST, due in 14 days" and fills in the form for you to check. It is optional, costs 1 credit and needs a free account; the price is shown before it runs.
It never writes a tax ID, bank or UPI details, terms or small print: those are yours to type. Only your sentence goes to our server and an AI model, not a file, and a PDF made after it filled any field says AI-assisted in its metadata. Making the PDF stays free.
What happens to your file
Your file never leaves your device: this page opens it, changes it and saves the result in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. Only an AI action uploads it, when you run one, and its price is shown first.
Your file is uploaded to our server only when you make the AI change, and it is deleted there after 2 hours. Until then, and for what you add yourself, it stays in your browser.
Your file was uploaded to our server for the change you made there, and it is deleted there after 2 hours, whether or not you download anything. What you add by hand is still made in your browser.
No AI provider sees it unless you run an AI action. The page sends us one count that a run happened — no file, no name, no size. Details on the privacy page.
An AI action sends the file on to an AI provider to make the change, and we do not use files for training. Uploads and outputs are deleted after 2 hours, whether or not you download them. Provider request logs are kept for at most 55 days. Details on the privacy page.
Questions
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. Making and downloading the invoice is free, with no sign-up and no watermark, and nothing of ours is printed on it: the page carries only what you put there. The one paid part is optional: Describe it, where AI fills in the form from a sentence, costs 1 credit and needs a free account (new accounts get 20 credits). You never need it to make an invoice.
Is my invoice uploaded or saved anywhere?
No. The form, the totals and the PDF are made in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to us; the only thing we are told is that a run happened. This browser remembers one thing, the last invoice number, so the next one starts at INV-0002. What you typed stays on the page while it is open, so download the PDF before you leave. Describe it is the exception: it sends your sentence, not a file, to our server and an AI model.
Can I use my own logo, currency and invoice number?
Yes. Add a logo as a PNG, JPEG or WebP picture. Pick rupees, US dollars, euros, pounds, dirhams and six more currencies, or type any other currency's symbol; rupees are grouped in lakh and crore (1,00,000), with a choice of 100,000. The number is counted up in this browser, and if you type your own, such as INV-0042, the next one follows it. Dates can read day, month or year first, on A4 or US Letter.
Can I change the invoice after I make the PDF?
Yes. The PDF opens in the editor. Change the details takes you back to the form with everything you typed and the same invoice number, and Make the PDF writes it again. You can also add text, a signature, a highlight or a picture on top with the editor's tools. Every word on the invoice is real text, so it can be selected, searched and copied.
Does it work out GST for me, or make an e-invoice?
It adds up the tax lines you give it and nothing more: you type the label and the rate, such as GST 18%, or CGST 9% and SGST 9%, and it works out each amount and the total. It does not decide which rate applies, check a GSTIN, make an e-invoice with an IRN or file a return; for those, use the GST portal or your accountant's software.
