Sample invoice PDF

This is a one-page tax invoice made as a digital PDF, so every word and number is real text that can be selected and extracted without OCR. It has six line items, a subtotal, GST at 18% and a total, and the arithmetic holds exactly, so an extracted table can be checked against the page.

What is in the file

A fictional stationery company bills a fictional trader for paper, pens, files, markers, desk organisers and sticky notes. Each line has a description, a quantity, a unit price and an amount; amounts are in rupees.

The same invoice, scanned, is the sample scanned invoice, so you can compare what a tool gets from the text layer with what it gets from the picture.

The facts

Measured from the file itself by the script that made it.

What to test with it

Licence, and who is in it

Nobody. Every company, person, address, account number and figure in the file was made up by the script that drew it, and every page carries the word SPECIMEN and a line saying it is fictional; the PDF's metadata says so too. The file is dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0, so you can use it in tests, demos, courses and products without asking. Last updated 8 October 2026.

Questions

Do the totals really add up?

Yes. Every amount is the quantity times the unit price, the subtotal is the sum of the six amounts, GST is 18% of the subtotal rounded to the paisa, and the total is the two added together.

Are the tax numbers real?

No. Both tax numbers read "SPECIMEN-TAX-…" so they cannot be mistaken for a registration, and the companies and addresses are invented.

Can I use this file in my own tests, product or course?

Yes. It is released under CC0 1.0, a public-domain dedication: copy, change, redistribute and use it commercially, with no need to ask and no need to credit filedone (a link is welcome).

Is anything in it real?

No. Every company, person, address, account number, tax number and figure was invented by the script that made the file. Every page says SPECIMEN and that it is fictional, and so does the PDF's metadata.
